Some ten thousand fans of TV programs like “El Chavo del Ocho” and “El Chapulin Colorado”, packed Mexico City’s National Auditorium on Wednesday, to celebrate the career of Mexican comedian Roberto Gomez Bolaños, also known as Chespirito.
The “America Celebrates Chespirito” event, organized by television giant Televisa, included performances by pop star Thalia, mariachi singer Juan Gabriel and bolero maestro Armando Manzanero as well as video testimonies of Chespirito fans in several Latin American countries, who told the audience about the impact that the comedian’s shows had on their lives.

Federal judges hold off on Alabama and Georgia immigration law rulings

After grilling attorneys representing Georgia and Alabama in cases against the states’ immigration laws, a panel of three federal judges in the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said on Thursday they will not issue a ruling until the U.S. Supreme Court weighs in on a case involving a similar law in Arizona.
